  • Overview

    The Mercantile Supervisor / Sales Assistant Dual Rate will perform supervisory duties, cash handling/sales and food preparation tasks in the General Store.

    Responsibilities

    Mercantile Supervisor
    $18.46/hr - $24.00/hr

     

    • Maintain proper execution of all facets of the operation, with an emphasis on excellent guest service.
    • Maintain accurate and proper cash controls.
    • Provide for the safety and security of employees and property.
    • Monitor the safety, appearance and quality of products prepared and/or for sale to customers.
    • Ensure Outlet and staff is in compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of all products, as instructed.
    • Oversee completion of established goals for designated shift. Delegate work assignments to subordinates. Monitor the progress, completion, effectiveness and efficiency of delegated work assignments. Enforce discipline or congratulate as situation requires. Inspire and direct staff supervised to achieve their personal best.
    • When necessary, train co-workers and subordinates to perform all basic functions associated with their hired position. Help determine and improve techniques used to complete tasks.
    • When requested, appraise the productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of employees for the purpose of recommending promotions, demotions and other changes in status.
    • Make recommendations to increase productivity, lower costs, boost sales, improve guest and/or employee satisfaction, and any other suggestions that might improve Outlet appearance, quality, safety and/or profitability.
    • Other supervisory tasks may include but are not limited to conducting inventory, compiling and submitting reports, budgeting, employee evaluations, compiling and reconciling daily sales, ordering, maintaining and controlling cash operations, developing menus, scheduling, and time keeping for payroll.

     

    Sales Assistant
    $11.54/hr - $15.00/hr

     

    • Interacting with guests, co-workers and other employees in a professional, friendly and ethical manner.
    • Comply with established written policies and procedures.
    • Maintain a positive and professional attitude as well as a professional appearance at all times.
    • Handle guest complaints or transgressions in a professional, courteous manner that is consistent with policies and procedures.
    • Execution of promotional activities for Company as directed by management.
    • Operation of POS/cash registers, associated sales and verification machines, inventory data entry and resultant cash handling.
    • Maintenance of product displays and merchandise by sweeping, dusting, cleaning, organizing, rotating and restocking daily so that products are fresh, safe and appealing.
    • Perform inventory counts to assist in ordering and reporting processes.
    • Communicate product knowledge and descriptions to guests as directed by management.
    • Compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of alcohol, cigarettes, gasoline and other products as instructed.
    • Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit and cash-handling policies and procedures.
    • Make recommendations to increase productivity, lower costs, boost sales, improve guest and/or employee satisfaction, and any other suggestions that might improve Outlet appearance, quality, safety and/or profitability.
    • Attend meetings, seminars and classes as required by management for business and self-improvement. Attends department meetings.
    • Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to management.
    • Knows all safety and emergency procedures and is aware of accident prevention policies.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Supervisory and retail sales experience
    • Knowledge of proper food handling and health and safety regulations preferred

    *Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.

    This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state-of-the-art air filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment.
